Privacy policy
The short version: the help pages and tools don’t ask who you are or save what you enter. Our forms ask only for what we need to follow up. We never sell, rent or trade anyone’s information.

What we collect
When you read the site or use a tool
The Get help, Prepare, Recover and Resources pages don’t need anything about you to work. The paperwork check and the deductible calculator run entirely in your browser. Your answers are never saved or sent to us.
The county box can find your county from a ZIP code or a street address. A ZIP code is matched in your browser and never leaves your device. A street address goes to our website server, which asks the U.S. Census Bureau’s public address lookup which county it is in and passes the answer back to you. We don’t save or log the address.
Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and browser type, to keep the site secure and running. We don’t use advertising pixels, and we don’t use cookies to follow you around the web. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t track you across sites.
When you fill out a form
The Get involved forms are for organizations, agencies and volunteers. They ask for your name and email, and may ask for your organization, title, website, phone, the counties you serve or can reach, what you can offer, whether your equipment is insured, your availability and whether you’re 18 or older. We also record your choices about email, text messages and being contacted during disasters, with the date and the wording you agreed to.
The Contact form asks for your name, your email and your message. You can also give your organization and phone number.
The updates signup asks for your email and the topics you chose. You can also give your first name, and a mobile number if you want texts about giving. We record the date and the wording you agreed to.
We send only the texts you agreed to. If you agreed on a Get involved form, we text you about disaster requests that match what you offer. If you agreed on the updates signup, we text you when giving opens and when we ask for gifts after a disaster. We never share mobile numbers or text consent with anyone for marketing. Reply STOP to any text to stop them.
Please don’t include health, financial or family details in any form. We don’t collect personal information about people affected by a disaster.
To block automated spam, our forms use a bot check from Cloudflare that reads technical signals from your browser.
How we use it
- To follow up about the partnership or volunteer work you asked about.
- To reach the right partners when a county or recovery group asks for help during a disaster.
- To answer messages sent through the Contact page.
- To email you about the topics you chose or the updates you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To send the texts you agreed to. Reply STOP to any text to stop them.
Who can see it
Our team can see it, along with the service providers that run our systems, such as hosting, email and our contact database, under agreements that limit their use of it. During a disaster, we may share an organization’s or volunteer’s contact details with the emergency management office, recovery group or partner organization that asked for help, so they can coordinate delivery.
We never sell, rent or trade information. We never share it with any business owned by our directors, officers or staff.
How long we keep it
We keep partner and volunteer details while the relationship is active. We keep updates signups and contact messages only as long as we need them to send what you asked for or to answer you. We review our records regularly, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or stop all email from us. Email [email protected].
Children
This site is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
